Organic silks are created by growing mulberry bushes organically, feeding these leaves to heritage varieties of mulberry silkworms, then hand-reeling their cocoons. You'll notice beautiful textures in these handwoven fabrics.
The conventional silks are handwoven using machine-spun threads. They are smoother in texture than the hand-reeled silks and are lighter-weight.
All TAMMACHAT silk fabrics are coloured with natural dyes, made from barks, coconut husk, leaves, even insect resin. The undyed pieces (upper left) are stunning as is or can be easily dyed.
